Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.
Oh wow…..I kind of totally forgot about this movie. I remember the somewhat “announcement” trailer for this movie, which was really brief, and i was trying to figure out when this movie was gonna come out. Originally, it was suppose to come out on August 14th, 2020, but probably shifted back until October 9th, 2020, but then finally settled on a December 2020 release. Judging from the trailer alone, the movie looks to be quite interesting. Franklin’s voice has definitely become “iconic” as the “Queen of Soul” and i think that she deserves a movie about her life. Plus, Hudson certainly has the vocal pipes to match Franklin’s voice, so that would be good. Following the success of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, will Respect follow the musical biographical dramas and be a front end contender at the upcoming award season. Only time will tell. One thing is for sure…Respect is definitely gonna be on everyone’s radar.
Respect arrives in theaters on December 25th, 2020 (limited) before expanding nationwide on January 15th, 2021
