Downton Abbey Official Trailer

Welcome to an new era (We’ve been expecting you) as Focus Features releases the new official theatrical trailer for their upcoming movie Downton Abbey. View trailer below.

While there is no official synopsis release for the film, the movie is a continuation of the critically acclaimed TV show Downton Abbey. The television series followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country house.  Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.

Here is the official US trailer

And here is the International official trailer

As I said before and I’ll say it again….. I’m a sucker for costume period pieces (both in TV shows and feature films). Of course, I was (and still am) a fan of the Downton Abbey tv show, so you can tell I’m quite excited to see this movie. It’s interesting that the US version of this trailer doesn’t give much of the story away, while the international trailer sheds more light on the film’s narrative with some of the characters. Regardless…. it looks like it’s shaping up to be quite “royal” occasion for the Crawley family and those in employed at “the big house”. Personally, I’m excited to see this movie…..

Downton Abbey  arrives in theaters on September 13th, 2019 (for international countries) and followed by the US release in September 20th, 2019

  • I haven’t seen Downtown Abbey, but like you, I’m a sucker for period pieces.

  • I’m excited, even though it’s so odd to me that the film is going to theaters. I’m concerned it won’t feel like much more than a longer episode of the TV show, but at the same time that’s probably what a lot of the fans want. I visited Highclere Castle last year and in all of the U.K. I came across the most Americans there, so I have a feeling it will be very successful both in the U.S. and internationally!

    • That’s how it usually goes when a TV show gets a theatrical feature release (i.e Sex and the City and Entourage). Still, I think it’s gonna be pretty good and I’m excited to see it. Plus, that’s awesome that got to visit Highclere Castle….so jealous!

  • I’m so thrilled we are getting Deadwood Movie AND Downton Abbey this year. This looks absolutely lovely and I enjoyed the show so much
