Mary Poppins Returns Official Trailer

The “magic” always returns as Walt Disney Pictures and director Rob Marshall release the official trailer for their upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns. View trailer below.
“Mary Poppins Returns” stars: Emily Blunt as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure; Lin-Manuel Miranda as her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; and Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. The film also introduces three new Banks’ children played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.
I have been wondering when they (Disney) would release the official trailer for this movie, which I guess is now…lol. As I said before, the character of Mary Poppins, whether you grew up reading Traver’s novels or watching the beloved Disney film, with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, has become a icon and a classic to many fans around the world (and from different generations). Thus, the idea of returning to Mary Poppins now (after so many years) does come with some reservations, but this new trailer for Mary Poppins Returns looks fantastic; bringing with it a lot of the charm and colorful imagination as I could remember from my childhood of watching the original film. Personally, I can’t wait to see this movie….
Mary Poppins Returns arrives in theaters on December 25th, 2018
I’m looking forward to it, too!
Definitely!!!
I’m interested to see what they do with this
Same here. I do have feeling it might be repurposed iteration (Mary Poppins comes back to help save the two Banks children), but it still looks quite fun and imaginative.
As much I like the original Mary Poppins film and Saving Mr. Banks, I did not like the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns. It looked like a remake of Mary Poppins masquerading as a sequel. As a remake, it didn’t look like a good one because, based on the trailer, the film appears to rely way too much on nostalgia and focusing on checking off a list of “must-haves” than trying to do something new with the story and adding a new voice to the narrative. In my opinion, Mary Poppins Returns just feels like the other movies Disney has made in recent years, which is remaking preexisting Disney films and hoping that nostalgia will equal success.
I see what you mean and I do worry about that as well. Like a lot of Disney’s live-action remakes, the film is playing upon nostalgia. Whether the movie will be good or not, is still undecided….
Stuff and nonsense – looks like this movie is filled with it – and I can’t wait!
It will be interesting how this movie will ultimately play out with both critics and moviegoers.
It will be interesting……
For sure!!!
