Based on the Ubisoft game franchise, the Assassin’s Creed movie follows a character by the name of Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Personally, I have never played Assassin’s Creed game (its true). From what I heard from people is that there actually are pretty good (I might have to pick up one up sometime this summer). I know the basics of the game’s premise (the original one at least) as this movie seems to taking some cues from it and changing some things around (i.e. journeying to Spain during the Spanish Inquisition rather than Jerusalem during the Crusades). I like Fassbender as actor, so he’ll probably make a fine choice for the movie’s main character. As for the trailer, it looks pretty good. However, there’s always that linger doubt about movies that are based off of video games. Thus, you never know if this movie is going hit or miss. Hopefully its a hit during the holiday season.
