The Little Mermaid Official Trailer

Watch and you’ll see, someday I’ll be……(part of your world) as Walt Disney Studios releases the official trailer for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. View trailer below.

“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca”) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.

Very interesting and I like it. While the recent Disney live-action movies can a be a little bit “hit or miss” in their reception to moviegoers, I have feeling that this movie could work in the studio’s favor. From the trailer alone, this latest preview shows off plenty of new footage, including a lot of the various acting talent who are going to play these iconic characters. I am curious how this movie will play out. Will it be too faithful to the source material or will it branch out too far to be unrecognizable to the beloved animated tale. In the end, I’m quite interested to see how The Little Mermaid shapes up to be. Hopefully for the good….

  • The cover looks pretty interesting! As I usually don’t watch trailers, I completely focus on the movie without any expectations, I am not sure yet, if I’m gonna watch this one.
Have to admit, it looks pretty tempting, tho

    • It will be interesting to see how this movie turns out to be and how it will be received by movieogers. Only time will tell….

  • Oh, there was a “hit” live action adaptation? Do tell…

    • Of the recent ones, I would say that Cruella. Yes, it was technically a prequel endeavor, but it was something better than the previous high profile live-action remakes that Disney produced of late.

      • They changed up the story so much. I don’t understand why Disney does it, but hopefully this one will be good too.

      • It’s a both give and take when it comes to their live-action remakes. Staying too close to the source material (The Lion King) and it becomes just a carbon copy of it, while straying too far away from the original (Dumbo) makes it unrecognizable. It’s hard to find that certain “sweet spot” with these endeavors.
