Mary Queen of Scots Official Trailer

A friendship that became a rivalry and started a war as Focus Features releases the official theatrical trailer for their upcoming movie Mary Queen of Scots. View trailer below.
Mary Queen of Scots explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I. Each young Queen beholds her “sister” in fear and fascination. Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history.
Being a fan of European history, this movie quite intrigues me. I’ve watched a lot of theatrical projects (both meant for the small and big screen) surrounding the events of Queen Elizabeth I, with most (if not all) showcase her relationship with Mary. Judging by this movie’s trailers, it looks like the film is gonna focus more on Mary rather than Elizabeth I, which will be interesting to see. Plus, I do love the cast (i.e Ronan and Robbie). However, some scenes with Robbie’s Elizabeth I (the ones with her bright red hair) look goofy as if she’s the Queen of Hearts from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. In the end, Mary Queen of Scots looks like to be Oscar “contender” this year and I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Mary Queen of Scots arrives in theaters on December 7th, 2018
Ronan alone is worth it enough for me (she is such a talented actress) to go and check this movie out, but the trailer itself also looks quite promising indeed. Thanks for sharing 😊
I know…right? She’s a good actress as well as Robbie. It will be interesting to see how they perform in this movie and if they get an oscar nom for their roles.
Looking forward to it, excellent casting pair
Totally agree. Both are fine actresses in their own right, which make their character dynamics quite interesting in the movie.
Ah. Time to dig out the history books (and travel guides) to read up and prepare for this.
Haha…yup…you might have to, especially during this time period of England’s history.
