Lights up on Washington Heights… The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.
Oh….wow. I wasn’t expecting another trailer for this movie. Yet, I do welcome, especially since I didn’t post the previous trailer on my blog when it initial got release. I am a big man of musicals and Hamilton was certainly one of those productions that really caught my interest. Thus, when I saw that Lin-Manuel Miranda originally created this (on the theatrical stage) I was definitely intrigued; finding In the Heights to have that sparkle of modern musicals. This new trailer looks quite interesting by showcasing plenty of new footage. All in all, I am looking forward to seeing this film during the summer of 2021.
In the Heights heads to HBO Max and in theaters on June 16th, 2021
This was actually Lin-Manuel’s first big Broadway hit, years before Hamilton put him into the stratosphere. It was a big Broadway hit, won several Tonys, I think.
