The “Tale that’s old as time” lives again as Disney releases the teaser trailer for the live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. View trailer.
Belle is a girl who is dissatisfied with life in a small provincial French town, constantly trying to fend off the misplaced “affections” of conceited Gaston. The Beast is a prince who was placed under a spell because he could not love. A wrong turn taken by Maurice, Belle’s father, causes the two to meet.
Well, being a fan huge of all things Disney, I’m super excited to see this movie. Granted, this teaser trailer didn’t show that much, which I kind of figured as the movie is being released next March (a good 8 or 9 months away from today), but still it was a great teaser. From the way how the castle looks familiar, to the enchanting / whimsical “Prologue” melody from the original 1991 animated movie being played (in the trailer), the voiceover of Lumiere and Cogsworth, and the first shot of Watson’s Belle and the “Enchanted Rose”. Hopefully it doesn’t deviate from the original story (like Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent) and sticks with the classic tale that olds as time (or at least 1991 animated movie).
Since the trailer doesn’t show as in the way of characters, here are some of the images of the actors and actresses that are playing the iconic roles in the movie.
Emma Watson as Belle
Dan Stevens as Beast / The Prince
Luke Evans as Gaston
Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts
Josh Gad as Le Fou
Kevin Kline as Belle’s father
Ian McKellen as Cogsworth
Ewan McGregor as Lumiere
Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters next year on March 17th, 2017
