In the thriller, Rachel (Blunt), who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds. Blunt plays Rachel with Theroux taking the role of Rachel’s ex husband, Tom. Ferguson, then, is Anna, Tom’s new wife, while Bennett and Evans are playing a married neighbor couple that wind up inextricably tied to the plot.
Working at a bookstore, I’ve seen the popularity of The Girl on the Train book, written by Paula Hawkins, grow, but (unfortunately) I haven’t read the book yet. I might have to check it out. As for the movie trailer, its pretty good. Kind of sort of feels like Gone Girl, with a lot of mystery behind the whole story narrative as things progress the “hidden” truth slowly unravels. Definitely peaked my interest.
The Girl on the Train is set to be released on October 7th, 2016
