Child 44 Trailer
Summit Entertainment has released the trailer for Daniel Espinosa’s latest drama feature titled Child 44. View trailer below.
A politically-charged serial killer thriller set in 1953 Soviet Russia, Child 44 chronicles the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov (Hardy), who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa (Rapace), as a traitor. Exiled from Moscow to a grim provincial outpost, Leo and Raisa join forces with General Mikhail Nesterov (Oldman) to track down a serial killer who preys on young boys. Their quest for justice threatens a system-wide cover-up enforced by Leo’s psychopathic rival Vasili (Kinnaman), who insists “There is no crime in Paradise.”
If you didn’t know, the movie is based off of Tom Rob Smith’s 2008 book of the same name. While I haven’t read the book, the trailer for the film sparks an interest in me pick up a copy of the novel prior of viewing the movie itself. I like the three main actors in the movie (Hardy, Oldman, and Rapace) and I’m curious to see how the narrative ends up.
Child 44 comes to theaters on April 17th, 2015.
