Starring global superstar Matt Damon and directed by one of the most breathtaking visual stylists of our time, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), Legendary’s The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure. The first English-language production for Yimou is the largest film ever shot entirely in China.
Hmmmm….I don’t know about this movie. I forgot to post the first trailer (the teaser trailer…my bad) when it originally came out, so I decided to post this one. Visually speaking, the movie looks great, which I expect from such a “visual-style” director such as Zhang Yimou. However, while I do like Matt Damon as an actor, I’m not quite convinced about him in being in this movie. It just seems awkward (to me). And this goes about the whole thing of Hollywood’s “Great White Savior” portrayal in feature films (who knows….I might do a editorial on that). Whether or not The Great Wall will be well-received still remains to be seeing.
