Return to the Star Wars universe as Disney releases the teaser trailer for their first Star Wars spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. View trailer below.
Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters comes together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule.
Right off the bat, I’m intrigued about this movie (even before I saw the teaser trailer). Rogue One will start the Star Wars Anthology Series, the first of several spin-off movies that are set in the Star Wars universe, so it will be interesting to see how this movie will ultimately size up against the roman numeral feature films. As for the trailers, it looks pretty good. A lot mystery and foreboding of the secret weapon from the Empire. As well as introducing to supposedly central character of the movie Jyn Erso.
Also, by taking a look at this still from the teaser trailer…it looks like Emperor will be appearing in Rogue One. I wonder if Ian McDiarmid will reprise his as Palpatine or will they get someone new. Also, I wonder if any other characters from previous Star Wars movies will be in this.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story flies into theaters later this year on December 16th, 2016.
