Pokémon: Detective Pikachu Official Trailer #1

Get ready to partner up with a legend as Warner Bros. Pictures releases the official first trailer for their upcoming live-action film Pokémon Detective Pikachu. View trailer below.

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Hmmmm….well, I have to say that I have mixed feelings about this. While I wholeheartedly love the Pokémon franchise (cards games, video games, animated TV, and feature length cartoon movies) from when I was introduced to it to today (yes, I love Pokémon), I’m not exactly sure about this movie. Yes, I love the fact that it is a live-action Pokémon movie and we finally get to see Pokémon drawn a bit more realistic bodies and the like, but I not completely sold the movie’s plot / storyline. Plus, Pikachu talking in Reynolds voice….I don’t know about that. Personally, I rather see a more traditional Pokémon adventure on the big-screen (a young trainer catching Pokémon, gym battles, etc.). I do have admit that I thought the scene with Mr. Mime was pretty funny. In the end, Pokémon Detective Pikachu looks to be okay. I’m not quite sold on it yet, but I hope to be surprise by it.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu  arrives in theaters on May 10th, 2019
