Mowgli Official 1st Trailer
Get ready for a different take on Kipling’s beloved Jungle Book tale as Warner Bros. Pictures (and director Andy Serkis) release the first official trailer for the upcoming film Mowgli. View trailer below.
The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand) raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India. As he learns the often-harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis) and a panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale), Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own, except by one; the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
I do have to say that this iteration of The Jungle Book looks quite interesting. While I have never have read Kipling’s original literary tale, I’ve seeing plenty of cartoon / film adaptions of the story to be somewhat familiar with the source material (i.e story and characters). This new iteration seems a bit more darker, but it certainly looks cool and that i love all the voice talents behind the characters, especially Cumberbatch as Shere Khan. Plus, the movie is being directed Andy Serkis, so that definitely peaks my interest. Of course, many will be comparing this movie to Disney’s 2016 live-action / CGI version of The Jungle Book, which was wide praised from critics and moviegoers and did make a big splash at the box office. Which one will be the better one? I guess we’ll all have to wait and see….
Mowgli arrives in theaters on October 19th, 2018
We had “The Jungle Book” of the year 2016, and now we have just “Mowgli”. The ideas void had never been greater in Hollywood.
Reading this I kept thinking I had already seen it. Then I got to the part about the 2016 Jungle Book and realized that is what I had watched. Good movie, but I don’t think this will have anything to add to it for me. Someone please think of some new material.
Despite the fact that the CGI animals and landscape look very similar to the Disney film from two years ago, Mowgli looks like it has potential. I noticed that this movie is being released in October, so maybe this could be a candidate during “awards season”?
