Tomb Raider Official Trailer 1

The fate of humanity rest in her hands as Warner Bros. Pictures released the first official trailer for the upcoming remake for Tomb Raider. View trailer below.

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Interesting. Ever since her big breakout performance in Ex Machina, I’ve been a fan Vikander, with such films like The Man from U.N.C.L.E and The Danish Girl. So, of course, I’m excited to see her as Lara Croft. I do remember seeing the first two Tomb Raiders movies (Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life), which starred actress Angelina Jolie as the title character. It will be kind of interesting to watch and compare the movies and see which was is the better Lara Croft (Jolie or Vikander). As for this trailer, it looks good, with plenty of adventure and action, befitting the iconic video game character. Only time will tell if this remake feature film is good or bad….I’m hoping that it’s good.

Tomb Raider  opens in theaters on March 16th, 2018

  • I’m gaming again for the first time in years. Bought an Xbox a week ago and the first game I’ve been playing, which I’ve been wanting to play for almost 2 years since it came out lol, is Rise of the Tomb Raider. I’m a big fan of the video games and let’s hope the movie turns out well. Thanks for the trailer, this was a pleasant surprise this morning!

    • I’ve actually never played the video games (more of Nathan Drake / Uncharted fan), but I’ve heard that the games are fun. I am hoping that this movie is good, especially if Vikander is in it…lol.

  • I hope this breaks the video game movie curse! Although, I am not sold on the whole “save the world” cliché.

  • The “save the world” cliche, and a clear over-use of CG, and too many scenes where her face looks too good after all she’s been through. “Put on some makeup! Good. And… action!”

    • Haha…well movie trailers can be right on the money (in-tune with how the actual movie is presented) or they could be completely misleading. So, well have to see how the movie turns out….whether good, bad, or indifferent.
