Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Official Trailer

The game has changed, but the legend continues as Sony / Columbia Pictures releases the official trailer for the updated remake film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. View trailer below.

In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji.  When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.  What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you.  They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…

Hmmmm…..I don’t know about this movie. Growing up in the 90s, I remember seeing (a lot) the original 1995 version of Jumanji, which starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kristen Dunst, and Jonathan Hyde as well as being based off of the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg. Yes, despite the film being dated by today’s standard, it still holds up as I even own the Blu-ray version of the film. What can I say…its one of those childhood memories films that I can’t help but just love. As for this movie…..I have mixed feelings. Sure, it up dates the premise for the millennial generation (turning the original Jumanji board game into a video game) as well as boasting a lot of big name actors like Hart, Johnson, Black, Gillian (all of which I like), but I just have a bad feelings about this movie. I’m not really completely sold on this remake and I have a growing suspicion that it might bomb at the box office when it gets released. Quite honestly….it doesn’t even look that memorable. At least the original one was (and that film is already more than two decades old). I’ll see this movie when it comes and review, but I have bad feeling about this Jumanji remake.

Get ready to play the “game” as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle  hits theaters on December 20th, 2017

  • I have a bad feeling about it as well! Looks, well awful from the trailer!

  • I also grew up in the 90s and feel nostalgia for the Original 1995 version. I still watch it regularly with my little sister. That’s really cool that you have the blu-Ray. #TrueFan

    • Haha…thanks. I always watched Jumanji when I was growing up. It still has that childhood memorable charm about it, despite it being more than 20 year old film.

  • I don’t know about this. I have such a fondness for the original, so I can’t see it living up to that.

  • I think the fact that I laughed my ass of all through Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson and Zachphron shows that I have devolved to where I will love this movie! But Jumanji? nahhh. Got to go to the Chris Van Allsburg book for the original look and vision.

    • Haha…you’re probably right about that. I mean like the cast in this movie (Johnson, Hart, Gillian, and Black), so it will be fun to see them all in a movie together. But…not a Jumanji sequel.

  • I worry you are correct. However, I saw some footage at ShowEast. It does look funny. My worry is it is too silly and over the top. We need more family films.
