The Dark Tower Official Trailer

In a world full of superheroes, there’s only one Gunslinger as Sony Pictures releases the official trailer for their upcoming film The Dark Tower. View trailer below.

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Working at bookstore, I’ve seeing many people purchase Stephen King’s books, especially his Dark Tower series. However, while I am a avid reader, I’ve never picked up any of his books. After seeing this trailer for the film The Dark Tower, I might have to. To be honest, it looks quite interesting premise and I do like the movie’s cast. So….who knows….maybe reading The Dark Tower might be a good “summer read” for me as I will be looking forward to seeing this movie when it comes out towards the end of summer of 2017.

The Dark Tower  is set to be released on August 4th, 2017

  • This is one of the top movies I’m waiting for. I’ve read all seven books. If there are seven movies, I’m going to collect all of them.

  • The trailer reminds me of ‘Van Helsing’ or ‘Priest’. I don’t know why. Maybe because of vampire slaying.

  • It looks like the movie’s changed up a few things. But I’m still excited! The books are definitely worth reading. The best thing about Stephen King’s adventures is the sheer detail, which may not always be possible to translate to screen. 😀

  • I’m on the third book. It’s a huge investment, King said he basically tried to make the series longer than any other fantasy saga. But it’s already changed my life. Not that much happens in the plot. The merit is in the sheer detail, as Jade said. King explains the workings of the universe and human character / psychology via the little things that happen, maybe even more so than via the big plot developments. It can all be read as metaphor for your own life.

  • What are you waiting for, you definitely need to read the books!!
