Assassin’s Creed Theatrical Trailer

Based on the Ubisoft game franchise, the Assassin’s Creed movie follows a character by the name of Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
I’ve picked up the first game (Assassin’s Creed) and started to play it, but I’m terrible at it. However, I’ve read the overarching storyline and it seems pretty interesting. As I can tell from the trailer, the movie version of Assassin’s Creed falls into a different time period (15th Century Spain) than the games do. So it will be interesting to see how the actually film plays out. Visually, it looks good and so does the cast. However, while I’m excited to see this movie, I think the music they played during the trailer is odd. Much like how the previous trailer was, it simply just doesn’t fit. That’s just bad marketing for the movie….just my opinion.

I used to play these games all the time. I haven’t decided if I think this film is going to be any good or not. Games made into films don’t ever seem to go down too well, but we’ll have to see if Assassins creed can break the mould.
Haha…yeah. You’re probably right about that. Video games turned into movies don’t exactly have a good track record. However, from the trailer, it looks interesting.
I don’t know anything about this game, I’m wary of any movie based on a game, and movies based on games have terrible track records.
That said, I just watched Trespass Against Us, another film that has Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson as father son, and I wouldn’t mind seeing them do it again here.
Plus, Marion Cotillard: love her.
Thanks for commenting on this. Yeah, I agree. The cast looks great (Fassbender, Cotillard, Irons, etc). And, like you said, video games don’t have a good track record. But the games do have a large fanbase, so I guess it will make its money (with the movie coming out before Christmas).
