Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the teaser trailer for the newest animated feature titled Zootopia. View trailer below.

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

While this teaser trailer has its moments of being funny (Jason Bateman narrating), it really doesn’t show much (besides its two main characters). It talks about the world that they live in, but doesn’t visual show it off. Obviously, more will be shown when more trailers debut. Will the movie be a hit or a flop? Who knows? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Zootopia opens in theaters next year on March 6th, 2016.

  • I also came across this trailer today, and didn’t quite know what to make of it. It seems like an interesting concept; though like you said, it will either be a hit, or it will fall…

  • Yeah tough to tell much from a teaser trailer and some stuff was a little odd. Like we don’t really need anthropomorphized spelled out and defined. I think most of us know movies like that even if they might not know that word. There are a few moments in the trailer where I worry they are going to try and make it too hip and cool, which could be super lame. It just has some Chicken Little vibes but I trust Disney they will make it good. I like the concept, voice talent and world building, so I am excited and hopeful. It should be neat.
