Return to the Star Wars universe as Disney releases the teaser trailer for their first Star Wars spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. View trailer below.
Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters comes together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule.
Right off the bat, I’m intrigued about this movie (even before I saw the teaser trailer). Rogue One will start the Star Wars Anthology Series, the first of several spin-off movies that are set in the Star Wars universe, so it will be interesting to see how this movie will ultimately size up against the roman numeral feature films. As for the trailers, it looks pretty good. A lot mystery and foreboding of the secret weapon from the Empire. As well as introducing to supposedly central character of the movie Jyn Erso.
Also, by taking a look at this still from the teaser trailer…it looks like Emperor will be appearing in Rogue One. I wonder if Ian McDiarmid will reprise his as Palpatine or will they get someone new. Also, I wonder if any other characters from previous Star Wars movies will be in this.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story flies into theaters later this year on December 16th, 2016.
I am not so sure about this one. It looked to me as if this was all business and no play. I did not see any kind of sidekicks for comedy relief, which should always be a part of Star Wars (except Jar-Jar Binks), and the main character seems to have too much attitude for my liking. But, December will tell.
Well, the only thing is that you can’t go by a movie trailer alone. Look at Suicide Squad. The first one was super serious and almost dark. Then the second one came out (the one with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody) and that was completely different and more comedic / lighthearted. Thus, Rogue One could be both business and play, its just how the movie trailer perceives the movie. Personally, I hope its good.
